We decided to categorize this particular issue under 'LGBTQ Poetry' on amazon because... well why not?
One of our favorite parts of the editing and selection process is seeing how different perspectives from around the world fit together, what topics people are collectively considering in their writing. Sometimes these themes don’t even become clear until well into the process.
There are a hundred different themes that run through this issue and while there are certainly works that have zero to do with sexuality, one major thread we noticed was queerness.
In light of this, and because LGBTQ issues are close to the hearts of our editors, we figured it was a small thing to file it under such.
What we didn’t expect, which you know if you’ve been following, is that Amazon considers this genre “erotica” and therefore has not allowed us to advertise it on their platform.
Another thing we didn’t expect was to rank #43! Normally we would never ask that you buy on amazon instead of our website, but we think this is an exception!
Help improve our ranking by buying, rating, and reviewing! And while you’re there you might as well do the same for issue 1!
We feel that writing, in particular the personal essay is among the best ways to work through our collective emotions. Submit your personal essay related to the Asian diaspora by March 24
Celebrating differences in the things that unite us by sharing poems, stories, and essays from all around the world. Our hope is to give voice to those without; to build up global and local communities of poets and writers based on mutual support and respect; and of course to read, publish, and publicize some amazing new works.
Submissions are now closed for our second issue. Any submissions received after 1/21/21 will be held for issue III. We accept poetry, short stories, and essays. There are no theme or length requirements.
Your support and contributions will enable us to continue to incentivize new literary works.
