2020 ‘Justice For’ Essay Contest

Winner: Money Mathibela

My name is Money Mathibela, I am a 22 year old law graduate from South Africa. I currently freelance write for a living in light of the lockdown regulations due to corona virus.

Police brutality is a prevalent crime against humanity. It is a hate crime that does not seem to cease. This massacre of Black people is racially motivated,  completely inhumane and anti-Black. This essay inter-relates racism and police brutality in South Africa and America. Police brutality is a global issue that only gets the plight of societal reading and cancellation. It never truly finds justice and families are left without other members as a result.

This essay also explores the injustices of racially influenced crimes across America and South Africa. It highlights how we, as Black people are subjected to the same injustices and that having our skin colour be a crime, is something, probably the one thing we have in common.
